Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 4 October 1986. Chappell describes his early life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He talks of his conversion to the Mormon Church in Holland, his feelings about priesthood restrictions, and his present life as a Mormon.
